On March 24, Mawei Administration for Market Regulation in Fuzhou organized a special training on GB 4806.1 General Safety Requirements for Food Contact Materials and Products for more than a dozen certified food-related enterprises within its jurisdiction, focusing on interpreting product labeling specifications. Experts from FQII were invited as main speakers in the training, centered on labeling disputes frequently occurring in the enterprises recently, and systematically explained the standard requirements, aiming to enhance the industry compliance awareness.

Regarding “labeling pitfalls” that the enterprises are prone to, three key requirements were focused on in the training. Firstly, material names must be clear and specific, and the material of each layer in composite materials needs to be indicated in sequence, to avoid usage risks caused by material confusion. Secondly, usage conditions shall be accurately indicated based on the intended use, for example, “microwaveable”, “nonresistant to high temperature”, “microwave heating is not allowed”, etc., to prevent safety issues caused by misuse and unclear responsibility. Thirdly, under the entrusted processing model, label information of the entrusted party (the factory that actually produces the packaging materials) shall not be hidden, to ensure the traceability of the production entity.

The training was closely related to actual difficult points of the enterprises. By precisely interpreting the standard requirements, the experts helped the enterprises within the jurisdiction to effectively avoid labeling compliance risks. At the same time, the enterprises were reminded to pay attention to new GB 4806 series national standards to be implemented from September 2026 and to proactively optimize labeling in comparison with new regulations in the training, laying a foundation for smooth transition and continuous compliance in future operations.

Next, FQII will continue to play a technical support role, carry out regular publicity and implementation trainings on standards for food contact materials and products, provide precise technical assistance based on actual needs of the enterprises, help the enterprises improve their compliance management levels, and promote high-quality development of the industry.
