    Established in 1964 with the approval of the provincial government, Fujian Inspection and Research Institute for Product Quality (hereinafter as FQII)  is a public institution directly subordinated to the Fujian Administration for Market Regulation, and is one of the first batch of testing institutions recognized by the state in China. Its overall scale and comprehensive strength rank among the forefront of provincial technical institutions throughout the country, and it is the backbone supporting institution for comprehensive quality supervision of the State Administration and the Provincial Administration.

    FQII has an existing laboratory area of 80,000㎡,an original value of fixed assets of RMB 638 million, 9,314 sets of instruments and equipment in use, 4 test and office bases in Shantoujiao Headquarters, Mawei, Yangnan Street and Minqing, 2 professional laboratories and 2 wholly-owned subsidiaries in Fu’an and Minhou, and has set up branches of tea quality and safety inspection and research institutes in Quanzhou, Ningde and Wuyishan. FQII possesses the only International Electrotechnical Commission CB mutual recognition laboratory qualification in Fujian and 6 national quality inspection centers (plastic products, processed food, electronic information products, low-voltage switch and electric appliance products, small and medium-sized motor products and building decoration products). 5706 standards have passed national laboratory accreditation by the CNAS, 7005 standards have passed the CMA (China Metrology Accreditation), and the number of standards having passed laboratory accreditation and laboratory qualification authentication ranks in the forefront of national quality inspection institutions. The service scope covers more than 2000 types of products in 112 categories, such as food, electrical, electronic, electrician, plastics and its products, chemical, building materials, machinery and fire protection, and the service area covers 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China. FQII has 597 staff in total, including 17 senior professional titles and 98 associate senior professional titles; masters and doctors account for 30.3% of the total staff, intermediate professional titles and above account for nearly 55% of the total staff, and undergraduates and above account for 90% of the total staff; 137 people were elected as members of national standardization technical committees, expert databases and professional associations at all levels, and one person was selected as a provincial-level candidate for the “Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents” Project in Fujian in 2021. There are 3C factory inspectors, production license factory inspectors, QS auditors, quality management system auditors, environmental management system auditors, occupational health and safety system auditors and laboratory auditors, more than 100 people in total.

    The provincial laboratories located in FQII include Fujian Southeast Appraisal Institute for Product Quality, Fujian Intelligent Electrical Appliance (Low-voltage) Testing Engineering Technology Research Center, Fujian Provincial Testing Center of Product Quality for Packaging Products, Fujian Provincial Testing Center for Intelligent Equipment, Fujian Provincial Supervision Testing Station for Firefighting Products,Fujian Provincial Medical Treatment Appliances Testing Center, , Fujian Provincial Testing Station for Wrapper and Container of Medicine, and Fujian Provincial Supervision Testing Center for Electric Motor.

    FQII issues more than 70,000 reports annually, can provide high-quality comprehensive services integrating inspection, research, standard formulation and revision, certification and training, and highlights the supporting strength of quality inspection in the field of serving macro quality supervision for governments, industrial transformation and upgrading, enterprise quality improvement, project quality acceptance, consumer-rights protection and judicial appraisal, etc. FQII has won more than 100 honors at or above the provincial level such as the National Model Staff Family, the National Worker Pioneer, the National Youth Civilization Unit, the National Teenager Rights Protection Post, the Provincial Civilized Unit and the Provincial May Day Award.
